Bass Fishing Tips and Techniques

Catch bigger bass more often using common sense, once you know the habits of the fish your bass fishing endeavors will become a huge success.

Whether you do your fishing in a lake or or river, you will find stumps, logs, grass and other objects submerged near the shoreline. This is often referred to as cover and large bass love to hide there waiting for food. Fish these locations early in the morning and in the evening before the bass move to deeper waters during the afternoon heat.

Since bass are predatory fish, using artificial lures will increase your chances of catching more fish. Here are a few lures to keep in your tackle box:

Soft plastic artificial worms. Most bass fishing professionals will tell you that the soft plastic worm is your best bet in catching big bass. These are very effective in clear and darker waters and work great when presented slowly through cover.

Spinner baits and lures are another favorite among bass fishermen. Spinner baits work very good on cloudy rainy days. Usually the most effective spinner baits have two blades.

Crank baits are very popular lures that resemble a live bait. They are effective at all times of the day, especially in the early morning hours. Crank baits have a plastic lip that gives the lure a live swimming effect. Crank baits with a larger lip are made to dive and should be used in deeper water.

Live baits such as minnows and crawfish may also be used most areas. Follow these simple bass fishing tips and techniques for catching more bass.
